The EDEW at Cofidis Group: a week full of experiences to raise awareness of disability

On the occasion of the European Disability Employment Week 2021, Cofidis Group wanted to create moments of exchange and sharing on the subject with its internal and external stakeholders in France. On the program for this awareness-raising week: testimonials, a conference on the Recognition of the Quality of Disabled Workers, job discovery internships, sports challenges where employees teamed up with external disabled people, a live chat, etc. In short, a key week to facilitate the recruitment and inclusion of the people concerned by raising the awareness of disabled employees, managers and job seekers. Focus on 2 highlights of the week...

How about forming pairs for the Duoday operation?

In line with its inclusive #Like approach, Cofidis Group has signed up its French subsidiaries Cofidis France, Creatis, Monabanq and SynerGie for Duoday, which provides an opportunity for disabled people who are far from employment and employers to meet: discovering a job for some, raising awareness of disability and identifying skills for others. More than 10 employees volunteered to form pairs. 3 meetings took place to immerse them in the daily life of our employees on the group’s campus. This warm and caring moment allowed us to involve the employees, to open them up to diversity and to disability in particular. These encounters may lead to new hires and could add to the hundred disabled employees in France that the group already has. This will illustrate the Cofidis Group’s welcoming disabled posture.

Employees at Handi Haut’lympics

In order to offer experiences that are ever more human to its employees, Cofidis Group took part in the 9th edition of Handi Haut’lympics on 18 November 2021. 6 volunteer employees from the 4 French entities Cofidis France, Monabanq, Creatis and SynerGie had the opportunity to team up with 3 disabled people to take up the challenge of sporting and collective events adapted to all: seated volleyball on the floor, wheelchair badminton in pairs, laser pistol shooting, boccia, chambarra, and a quiz on employment and disability. Paralympic disciplines that the employees are not ready to forget and that they already want to practice again next year.

Mutual aid, cohesion, team spirit and good humour paid off as the Cofidis Group team came 6th out of 12 teams! Congratulations to the employees for this first participation, for having defended the values of team sport in diversity and for contributing to changing the way people look at disability.

“We think we know about disability, but this day made me realise that the subject is vast and full of good surprises. I learned a lot, discovered a lot and really enjoyed practicing these Paralympic disciplines. (Stéphanie)

“The role-playing and adapted sports make us aware of the difficulties encountered in everyday life by people with disabilities: what seems simple or natural to us becomes a trial. (Manuel)

“Even if in the end we finish in the middle of the ranking, that is not the main thing. The important thing is to have been able to show once again that the richness is in the difference. That to be a team, we have to complement each other. Only the difference allows it”. (Armelle)
